Supercurrent in Josephson junction

If α₁ and α₂ are the phases of two superconductors in a Josephson effect experimental setup, supercurrent in the junction is given by,

I_s = I_c sin (α_{2 -} α₁)

Here I_c represent the critical current which is the maximum current across the junction under zero voltage conditions.
